About Sharon

My work as a healer began in 1973 as a young nurse and social worker in the far North – working with multi-ethnic groups including First Nations peoples. Nine years later I moved to Toronto and began work as a psychiatric nurse at the Clarke Institute and later moved to prenatal nursing. In the 1990’s, I worked as an English teacher with female youth-at-risk and special needs students, co-creating a work-study program for my female high school students with George Brown College – establishing realistic post-secondary education for them as Early Childhood Education practitioners in a reality that would otherwise see them drop out. My conviction that the human spirit can realize its potential in the midst of, and through, adversity was the common thread compelling me in each of my career choices, and motivated my own evolution process in therapeutic healing.

My early training as a nurse practically informs my Integral therapy practice today. I still ground my perspective of new clients in a foundational nursing teaching espousing holistic care – the physical, sociological, and then spiritual/ self-actualizing needs of a patient are addressed sequentially in order that the immediate dis-ease, and then root causes are addressed. It has agreed with my later psychotherapeutic training in Integral healing and bioenergetics work.

I am an Integral Psychotherapist with over twenty years of personal therapy experience that grounds my client-centred practice. I have eight years of training in psychotherapy – four of which with the Centre for Training in Psychotherapy in psychoanalysis – the last four with the Integral Healing Centre of Toronto, which was a conscious move toward a more integrated therapy model. During my training with the Integral Healing Centre, I also trained in four years of Bioenegetics. I have done extensive workshop learning with Jungian Marion Woodman and poet Robert Bly, and I am currently a Clinical Member of the Ontario Society of Psychotherapists, and a Member of both the College of Nurses and the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario.

I am a mother of three adult children and a grandmother. I have been in a long-term relationship with my life partner for over thirty years. These relationships have presented me with the opportunities to confront and expand myself most deeply. I have a capacity to be honest about my own imperfections and struggles because of my past connections with a wide variety of careers, family situations, and personal challenges.
